PANJIM: Compassion FC were crowned the winners of the Khelo India Girls U-17 Football League organised by the GFA.
Compassion FC were declared winners of the security 20 points while Churchill Brothers FC Goa emerged runners up with 19 points following their 7-1 win over Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao FC, at the Rosary ground, Navelim in their last match. Pearl Fernandes scored four goals while Amanda netted a brace and Beleza and Cyla Rodrigues found the net once each for Taleigao.
Fatima Braganza of Compassion FC was adjudged as the best player in the league and received the trophy from Maria Rebello, ex-international footballer and FIFA referee while Pearl Fernandes of Churchill Brothers FC Goa who scored 32 goals and was therefore declared the highest scorer of the league and received a trophy from ex Salgaoncar player Micky.
The runners-up trophy was handed over by GFA official Royala while Fr. Dylon D’Costa, Assistant Parish Priest of Rosary Church, Navelim, who was the chief guest handed over the winners’ trophy to Ria Patre the captain of Compassion FC.
